Our team recently completed a complex underwater repair operation on a vesselβs rudder.
Following the findings during a standard hashtag#underwater hashtag#inspection and hashtag#propeller hashtag#polishing in the port of Rotterdam, our team noticed an issue to the rudder bearings. The bearing flanges were found in loose and missing condition, and rudder bearing sleeve was misalligned from its housing.
After discussing this issue, we re-mobilized our dive support vessel to repair this issue.
The repair operation was successfully completed, within vessels planned port-stay.
- Removal of the damaged rudder bearing flange using thermal cutting.
- Re-alignment of the bearing sleeve using symmetrical hydraulic jacks.
- Installation and underwater welding of new securing half-rings and steel securing brackets.
- Final inspection and testing confirming alignment and secure installation.
Proud of the collaboration and expertise shown by everyone involved!
